Columbus State Community College
Our mission at Columbus State is to provide Central Ohio residents the educational opportunities they need to get to the next phase of their career - whatever that may be.
First, you can get a two-year associate degree in a Career & Technical field, which qualifies you for a job immediately. Or, you can get an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree, which represents the first two years of a bachelor's degree and can be transferred to another college. Third, we strive to build the workforce of tomorrow through our Community Education and Workforce Development division.
The Columbus Campus is located in the middle of the Discovery District, on 80 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The campus currently consists of more than two dozen buildings. The college also maintains 9 Off-Campus Centers and a new campus in Delaware County, which opened in Autumn 2010.
Columbus State is a major engine of economic growth, by enhancing people's skills and helping train the workers that employers need. A 2010 survey estimated Columbus State returns $2.90 for each dollar of taxpayer support, and students see their income rise $110 per year for each credit they take here.
The college has grown from an initial enrollment of 67 students in 1963 to its current student body of around 32,000. Columbus State is the largest provider of online classes in the state, with 13,709 students taking at least one web class in Autumn 2011.
As one of the largest landowners in downtown Columbus, Columbus State is committed to being a good neighbor and spurring development in its area. The college is proud to be a part of the Discovery District.
