About the Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD)
A degree-granting institution of higher education, Columbus College of Art & Design prepares tomorrow's creative leaders for professional careers. With a history of commitment to fundamentals and quality, CCAD advances a distinct, challenging, and inclusive learning culture that supports individual development in art, design, and the humanities. On a nine-acre urban campus, CCAD fosters an educational community of applied creative thinkers. CCAD doesn't just encourage great ideas; through the BFA, MFA, and public programs, our faculty teach students how to bring those ideas to life and take them out into the world.
THE BFA PROGRAM
The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program at CCAD is a balanced mix of art, design, and liberal arts taught by talented professional faculty. A rigorous studio curriculum-augmented by courses in art and design history, humanities, and the sciences-nurtures each student's growth as an artist, designer, and well-rounded individual. Across all media and subjects, our classes encourage critical thought and an expanded world view, while building academic self-assurance and intellect. The resulting portfolio of knowledge helps students understand the past as they create the future.
THE MFA PROGRAM
Utilizing a structure rare in the United States, CCAD's MFA program draws its inspiration from the way artists actually work. The project-based, multidisciplinary curriculum is designed to develop not just candidates' artistic skills, but also their skills in planning, communications, and leadership. Artists working with traditional studio practices, as well as with installation and digital media, participate together in a two-year program that emphasizes the artist's public as well as private creative roles.
