Broad Street United Methodist Church

Proudly located in the Discovery District at the corner of Broad and Washington, Broad Street United Methodist Church is the church in the heart of the city, with the city in its heart. All are welcome to join our diverse community of all ages, races, sexual orientations, family configurations, and economic abilities.
Our doors open every Sunday for gathering and refreshment at 9:15 a.m., followed by Church School classes for Children and Adults at 9:30 a.m. and service in the sanctuary at 10:45 a.m. Worship includes a rich variety of music, the arts, prayer, leadership, and liturgy.
On any given day, you'll find Broad Street members serving the homeless, providing care and comfort to those in the community, advocating on behalf of social justice issues, singing in the acclaimed choir, or working with other local congregations and groups to provide much needed supportive services.
Broad Street UMC History
Broad Street UMC was first organized in 1875 as the Broad Street Methodist Episcopal (M. E.) Church. Ground was broken for the present building designed by well-known Columbus architect Joseph Warren Yost in April 1884.
Joseph Foraker, William McKinley and their families worshipped at Broad Street while they were governors of Ohio. A memorial service for President McKinley was held at Broad Street Church concurrently with his funeral service in Canton, Ohio, on September 19, 1901. Primarily because of this connection with McKinley, the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Ministries at Broad Street UMC

The Inn at Broad Street located on the lower level of Broad Street UMC houses families for 12 to 18 months to help them transition from housing crisis to more stable housing situations.
Each Christmas season, Broad Street UMC is a co-sponsor of Bethlehem on Broad -providing cookies and hot chocolate, face painting and crafts for children, a photo with Santa and food boxes for approximately 2,500 individuals with limited resources during the Christmas season.
